Hardstyle is older than Dupstep. Therefor, listening to Hardstyle makes you more hipster than listening to Dubstep. Your argument is invalid, my work is done here.

sigh dubstep and hardstyle are from around the same era.
Dubstep started just before the year 2000 see for example the Tempa label.

And hardstyle is from the same era and it evolved from the hardtrance sound, see the label Tracid Traxx. The first Qlimax lineup in 2000:

well i showed the tracks to some dubstep fans and they listen to terror now , crossover tracks are actually usefull to get fans for a genre, but suprisingly every metalhead i know likes frenchcore
and there a lot of genres started around 2000, hardstyle, hardbass, dusbtep, frenchcore ...
