#4

I think you guys using bad version of winrar or zippyshare fuck's up again as usually, because everything is fine here... brr

previously posted rar archive is corrupted, and can't be extracted by winrar 4.00 or any other tools, https://www.dropbox.com/s/1yaxh32cak9m2t2/Clipboard01.jpg?dl=0

EDIT: Now i managed the source of problem, you packed archive with WinRar 5 or higher, and archives made with WinRar5 is not compatible with previous WinRar versions. I extracted successfully this archive with WinRar 5.2 (downloaded portable version for checking this issue). That's why I dont use WinRar 5 or higher for packing archives.

It's not my problem that people & even you uses outdated software, an outdated software can make serious problems to your computer, isn't? New technologies, new possibilites, it's like you using IE3 (which works good on your old slow pc) instead of using Chrome or Firefox which is designed to be better than IE, back to the oldschool, i don't wonder if there is people who use even WIN98 instead of Win8 for example... pfff...

With mp3s Winrar just fills the role of multiple-into-one files consolidator anyway. For a public share compatibility/stability outweighs several bytes of possible gain (actually for certain type of content Winrar v5+ can easily pack less efficiently than older version).
Just create a default compression profile with older/non-RAR5 archive format, this still semi-experimental newer format simply doesn't worth the potential trouble + you won't have to read wall of rants from people that keep failing to download from any other filehost than Zippy :)

#13

WinRar 5.00 64bit here. Everything is extracting fine - just as it should.

#14

Btw you contradict yourself. You SHOULD use WinRar 5 or higher if you are worried about compatibility issues. Otherwise you WON'T be able to properly extract rar. files posted by other users that were compressed with version 5 or higher.

In all the time I've been downloading music in rar-files ( here or elsewhere ), I can still count it on 1 hand I couldn't open archive. And I've never used Winrar 5 or higher.

Ps: I only have 5 fingers on each hand :P

#16

Good for you i guess :P But my argument still stands ;)

#17

True true :)

#18

an rar archive should be backward compatible. just like for example, the modern usb 3.0 interface, wich you can use on usb 2.0.
