you mean embedded artwork in the files? Because like 20 yeasr ago some mp3 players had a problem with them

Thanks, yeah I mean embedded. Looks much nicer on my phone / car. Weird how most groups seem to actively remove it when almost all releases come from gplay which ofc embeds cover art. Only spam groups that don't check releases like ENTANGLE seem to leave it embedded

so-called "scene" release groups have to comply with a set of rules and i guess the whole artkwork removal is part of making the released files as compatible as possible with hardware/software music players and some player a long ass time ago had problem playing files if they had artwork so now none of us can't have nice things ;(

of course the so-called "p2p" groups that are not part of the mp3 release scene don't have to follow these rules so they can leave them intact

Maybe it depends on the source? If they buy the tracks the files already have it, but if it's a stream rip then they don't add it afterwards? Just a wild guess
